On Thursday, Freiburg beat Swiss first-division side FC Zürich in a friendly. Having been down 2-0 at the break, the team rallied to win 3-2 thanks to a goal from Manuel Gulde and two from Nils Petersen.

The DFL announced the exact date and kick-off times for Bundesliga matchdays 7 to 13 of the 2021/22 season on Thursday. SC Freiburg are to play six times on a Saturday and once on a Sunday during this period.

SC Freiburg face a trip to VfL Osnabrück for the second round of the DFB-Pokal. The game at Bremer Brücke will be played on 26th October at 20:45 CEST. 

Just like last season, SC Freiburg were 3-2 winners away at VfB Stuttgart on Saturday afternoon, although an early three-goal lead thanks to Lucas Höler and a Wooyeong Jeong brace was almost thrown away.
