SC Freiburg will play TSG Hoffenheim in the next round of the DFB-Pokal. The last-16 tie will be played on 18th or 19th January 2022.
For the first time in four years, SC Freiburg are in the round of 16 of the DFB-Pokal. This time, they will face TSG Hoffenheim away from home.
The two sides have only ever met once before in the history of the DFB-Pokal. Back in 2008, SC won 3-1 in the second round at TSG. Overall, Freiburg also have the edge in the head-to-head record, winning nine times against Hoffenheim (D10, L6).
“A home game after four years would have been nice, but Hoffenheim isn’t that far away and we’re looking forward to an away trip with plenty of Freiburg fans there,” said assistant coach Lars Voßler. “We haven’t focused on them much this season, and our first game in the Bundesliga against them is only in December.”
