SC Freiburg have won their first preseason friendly, coming from behind to beat 1. FC Saarbrücken 2-1 with goals from Kiliann Sidillia (47’) and Noah Weißhaupt (53’).

The DFB has now called up Keven Schlotterbeck to Germany’s squad for the Olympics in Japan.

Nils Petersen has suffered a knee injury in training and expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.

SC Freiburg will play against FC Vaduz and Bayer Leverkusen during the team training camp in Austria.

The DFL released the exact timings for the first six Bundesliga matchdays of the 2021/22 season on Wednesday (7 July). SC Freiburg will play five of the games on Saturdays and one on a Sunday. 

SC Freiburg completed their first team training session of pre-season on Monday, and were joined by six players from the U23s that have recently been added to the first-team squad.

SC Freiburg will play Würzburger Kickers away from home in the first round of the DFB-Pokal (6th-9th August).

SC Freiburg have announced the transfer of Brandon Borrello to newly-promoted second-division side, Dynamo Dresden. 

SC Freiburg will begin preseason training on Monday, with the first friendly scheduled for 10th July against 1. FC Saarbrücken.

Kimberly Ezekwem, who recently moved up to the first team from the Freiburg U23s, has extended his contract with the club.
