World Cup latest: No SC involvement in semi-finals

The World Cup is now over for the last SC player still involved. Johan Manzambi, who was absent through injury, and Switzerland were beaten 3-1 by Argentina after extra time.

Every country with an SC player in its squad made it through to the knockout rounds. Johan Manzambi’s Switzerland went out in the quarter-finals, while Philipp Lienhart and Austria were beaten by Spain in the round of 32. Croatia and Igor Matanovic lost to Portugal in the same round, while Yuito Suzuki and Keisuke Goto’s Japan also saw their tournament come to an end in the round of 32 against Brazil.
