Following the play-offs and the draw in Nyon, SC Freiburg’s opponents in the Europa League round of 16 have now been confirmed. SC will take on Belgian side KRC Genk.

We sat down with SC head coach Julian Schuster, who spoke to us about his team’s character and how it should carry on in the future.

SC Freiburg have now gone 15 straight competitive matches at the Europa-Park Stadion without defeat after beating Borussia Mönchengladbach 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Matthias Ginter and Igor Matanovic scored for the hosts, while Haris Tabakovic got the Foals’ late goal back.

SC Freiburg will face VfB Stuttgart away from home in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal. The draw for the final four was made on Sunday evening.

SC Freiburg are into the last four of the DFB-Pokal after defeating Hertha BSC on penalties in their quarter-final clash. With the scores level at 1-1 after 120 minutes, SC triumphed 5-4 in the subsequent shoot-out. The semi-final draw will take place on 22nd February, while the match will be played on 21st or 22nd April.
