Maximilian Eggestein signs contract extension
Midfielder Maximilian Eggestein is staying at SC Freiburg after extending his contract.
Maximilian Eggestein was a permanent fixture in the Freiburg side last season, playing 4,793 minutes across 53 competitive appearances. Since arriving from Werder Bremen in summer 2021, the 29-year-old has made 218 appearances for SC Freiburg, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 13. The midfielder is again one of SC’s vice-captains this season and is also a part of the team council.
“Things have gone well for me at Freiburg since day one. In and around the team there are lots of people who I like and work well with,” said Maximilian Eggestein. “I want to continue to be a part of the success story that we’ve experienced in the past few years, which will hopefully keep going.”
Chief sporting officer Jochen Saier said: “You need an anchor in every development process within a team and Maxi is a key figure in our team. His quality on the pitch, his professionalism and his social skills are of immense value to our game and our development as a side. We’re really looking forward to continuing our work with him in the future.”
Details of the contract extension will remain undisclosed.
