Maximilian Eggestein was a permanent fixture in the Freiburg side last season, playing 4,793 minutes across 53 competitive appearances. Since arriving from Werder Bremen in summer 2021, the 29-year-old has made 218 appearances for SC Freiburg, scoring 15 goals and assisting a further 13. The midfielder is again one of SC’s vice-captains this season and is also a part of the team council.

“Things have gone well for me at Freiburg since day one. In and around the team there are lots of people who I like and work well with,” said Maximilian Eggestein. “I want to continue to be a part of the success story that we’ve experienced in the past few years, which will hopefully keep going.”

His quality on the pitch, his professionalism and his social skills are of immense value to our game and our development as a side. We’re really looking forward to continuing our work with him in the future.”
