Lukas Kübler extends his contract
Lukas Kübler will remain at SC Freiburg after agreeing a new contract with the club.
Kübler has been at Freiburg since 2015, with only Christian Günter having spent longer in the first team among the current squad. The right-back has made 247 competitive appearances for SC during that time, scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists. The 34-year-old is also a member of the team's leadership group.
“It feels good to see how this team is progressing and to be part of that journey,” said Kübler. “The club has become very close to my heart, which is something I wouldn't have expected 11 years ago. I want to keep bringing passion and commitment to the pitch, as well as a bit of humour into the dressing room.”
Sporting director Klemens Hartenbach said: “Kübi is someone we can always rely on. He gives everything for the club every single day and identifies completely with what we're about. Whether he's playing himself or encouraging his teammates from the sidelines, he always gives his all. We're delighted that such an important figure in our team will be staying with us as we continue our journey together.”
The details of the contract extension have not been disclosed.
