This year’s SC Freiburg annual general meeting included the scheduled election of the club’s supervisory board, with four new members joining the body. Three long-serving members of the board did not stand for re-election.

One of the items on the agenda at this year’s SC Freiburg annual general meeting was the scheduled election of the supervisory board for the 2026 to 2030 term. The club council is responsible for nominating candidates and, acting in its capacity as the election committee, held extensive discussions with a large number of potential candidates as part of the selection process. In accordance with the club’s statutes, the club council considered not only each candidate’s individual suitability, but also how the future members of the supervisory board could work together constructively in the best interests of the club.

All nine candidates put forward were elected by SC Freiburg’s members on Thursday evening to serve four-year terms. Denise Böhm, Gabi Furtwängler (formerly a member of the club council), Christoph Sennekamp and Dr Alexander Vivell are all new additions to the SC supervisory board. Existing board members Werner Blank, Helen Hall-Salomon, Gernot Pöpperl, Edith Sitzmann and Hannelore Stocker were also elected by the club’s members to serve for the 2026 to 2030 term.

The newly elected supervisory board will meet shortly to formally constitute itself and elect a chair and deputy chair from among its members.

Dr Heinrich Breit, Johannes Baumgartner and Marcel Thimm will no longer serve on SC’s supervisory board. All three chose not to stand for re-election.

Dr Heinrich Breit has served SC Freiburg in various roles and on a number of committees over the past 28 years. From 1998 to 2014, he was the club’s treasurer and a member of its voluntary executive board. In autumn 2014, Breit became chair of the then newly established supervisory board. Since 2004, Dr Heinrich Breit has also served on the boards of the Förderverein Freiburger Fußballschule and the Achim Stocker Foundation.

Johannes Baumgartner served as deputy chair of SC Freiburg’s supervisory board for the past twelve years. Marcel Thimm had also been a member of the SC supervisory board since 2014.

SC Freiburg would like to thank Dr Heinrich Breit, Johannes Baumgartner and Marcel Thimm for their many years of voluntary service and commitment to the club and wishes them all the best for the future.
