New body: Club Council

Since the 2025 general meeting, SC Freiburg has had a new body within the club: the Club Council. This was preceded by an extensive ten-month dialogue process with members, which resulted in an amendment to the statutes that was approved by the general meeting on October 9, 2025, with the required two-thirds majority (87 percent).

The election of the Club Council means that both the Honorary Council and the Presidency will be replaced by the new body, and the previous tasks of the two bodies will be merged into the new Club Council.

The tasks of the club council include preserving tradition and promoting historical understanding, promoting club and fan culture, and organizing events for members. A new and important task of the club council will be to receive and advise on member concerns.

Composition of the Association Council

The General Meeting elected Marc Schmid (47) as Chairman of the Association Council, which will consist of up to twelve members in future. Schmid has been involved with the sports club in various capacities on a voluntary basis for over 30 years (fan club, volunteer fan representative, member of the former volunteer executive committee). Most recently, Schmid was a member of the supervisory board (since 2014), which he will no longer be a part of in the future.

The other members of the club council, who were elected by the general meeting on October 9, 2025, in individual votes, are Lea Ehinger (27), Fabian Freiseis (38), and Stefanie Renz (33). Like more than 30 SC members in total, they had applied for the club council in advance.

In making its selection, the Supervisory Board, acting as the election committee, took into account the tasks described in the new association statutes as well as the personal and professional suitability of the applicants. With a view to the overall composition of the future Association Council, the Supervisory Board took diversity criteria into account as far as possible.

In addition to the four new members of the Association Council, the new statutes—as a result of the dialogue process—stipulate that the members of the previous Honorary Council will remain members of the new Association Council during a two-year transition phase (until 2027) in order to contribute their experience and knowledge to the new body.

The other members of the Association Council are: Günter Drescher, Gabi Furtwängler, Markus Knobloch, Udo Lay, Ilona Nann, Klaus Steinwarz, Hartmut Wilhelm, and Ute Willaredt.
