10,000 fans will be in attendance to support Christian Streich and his team on Saturday. This will be the first Bundesliga game in Freiburg with spectators since last September.

The head coach is hoping for extra motivation from the terraces as his players take on the side that finished third last season: "It’s great that fans can be there again, we definitely want to give them a good game and we hope they can carry us a bit with their support."

SC Freiburg won the last game at home to BVB 2-1 back in February, but the Breisgau boys will need a lot to go their way on Saturday in order to get another result from an in-form Dortmund side. "I’m excited to see whether we have the means to make things really difficult for Dortmund," said Streich at the pre-match press conference. "We need fight off the surges that will keep coming at us. It will be a big task, we need to be tolerant and can’t get frustrated."

On Tuesday night, the record champions Bayern München showed everyone how to beat Marco Rose’s Dortmund. Bayern’s commitment in forward pressing could be a tool for Streich and SCF as well: "Bayern forced Dortmund into making mistakes, we definitely want to show courage and press in certain situations, but this means we will need to commit to it fully so that they can’t play through the first line of defence."

Not much has happened with regard to personnel since last week. Nils Petersen has rejoined team training, but Saturday is likely to be too early for a competitive appearance. Manuel Gulde’s involvement against BVB is still doubtful – the cenrtre back fell on his hip against Bielefeld and suffered some bruising.
