Anyone who missed football over the summer break will be able to get more than their fill of football over a seven-hour program of SC fun. From midday, there will be a program of fan activities for kids, families and anyone else who wants to join in. SCF and other club partners will have activities to watch and take part in until 17:00. From 3pm, there will be football to watch in the Europa-Park Stadion, with some international flair on show ahead of Freiburg’s Europa League season.

Rayo Vallecano finished the 2021/22 La Liga season in 12th, securing survival in style as a promoted side the year before. 21-year-old left back Fran García is one of the league’s young stars, and is part of Andoni Iraola’s team. The Spanish side, based in Madrid’s Vallecas area, exemplify clear values against social issues, as do SCF.

The second match of the season’s opening could also be a potential clash in the Europa League, as from 17:30 CEST, Freiburg take on Stade Rennes, who finished fourth in France last season and qualified for the competition. SC fans will be excited to see the return of Baptiste Santamaria to his former club – the midfielder joined Rennes last August and has played 45 games for the Ligue 1 side so far. They are an internationally star-studded side, with a total of 21 players representing either youth or senior national teams.

Both matches will be played over a full 90 minutes, and ticket sales will begin next week.
