The overall schedule for the 2023/24 season has been announced, with the Bundesliga season opener set to take place on 18th August 2023. The final matchday of the season will take place in mid-May.
On Friday, the German Football Association’s presidential committee announced the outline for the 2023/24 season. The opening weekend of the Bundesliga will take place on 18th August 2023, while the Bundesliga 2 season will begin three weeks prior on 28th July 2023.
The winter break has been scheduled for after matchday 16 in the Bundesliga (19/20th December), with matchday 17 set to be the final Bundesliga 2 matchday of the calendar year (15-17th December). Teams in the top division will play their only double game week of the campaign in that period.
Following the winter break, the Bundesliga will return on 12th January 2024, with the second division following a week later on 19th January 2024.
The final matchday of the Bundesliga season will take place on Saturday, 18th May 2024. The Bundesliga 2 season will come to an end the following day, on 19th May.
The Supercup between the Bundesliga champion and DFB-Pokal winner has been scheduled for Saturday, 12th August 2023. The first round of the DFB-Pokal will take place that same weekend (11-14th August). The cup matches featuring the two Supercup participants will be played on 26th and 27th September 2023. The DFB-Pokal final will be hosted at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 25th May 2024.
