The trip to Berlin has made us want more. SC Freiburg’s new DFB-Pokal campaign will get under way in Kaiserslautern after the first-round draw was made on Sunday evening.

SC Freiburg’s first team will return to the training pitch on June 27th. All the dates to remember for the team’s preparations ahead of the 2022/23 season are here.

The season is not yet over for six of SCF’s players. Nico Schlotterbeck, Philipp Lienhart, Roland Sallai, Ermedin Demirović, Wooyeong Jeong and Kiliann Sildillia are all away on international duty in June.

The Freiburg team were welcomed home with a rousing reception in front of the Stadttheater on Sunday, as more than 10,000 fans gathered in the Platz der Alten Synagoge. It was also a chance to say farewell to Andreas Kronenberg, Janik Haberer and Nico Schlotterbeck.

It wasn’t to be for SC Freiburg in Berlin. The club’s first ever DFB-Pokal final went all the way to the wire before RB Leipzig came out on top in the lottery of the penalty shootout. Maxi Eggestein (19') scored in the first half of normal time to give Freiburg the lead. Christopher Nkunku equalised (76') late on.

SC Freiburg are one day away from a special game in the club’s history. They will take on RB Leipzig in the final of the DFB-Pokal at the Olympiastadion on Saturday at 20:00 CEST.

SC Freiburg ended the 2021/22 Bundesliga season with a narrow 2-1 defeat at Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Lucas Alario scored the opener in the 53rd minute, as Janik Haberer netted the equaliser in the 88th minute. Exequiel Palacios put Leverkusen back in front with his goal deep into injury time (90’+7).

SC Freiburg will close out the Bundesliga season away at Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday (15:30 CEST).

SC Freiburg confirm the transfer of Janik Haberer to Union Berlin after the 28-year-old signed a contract with the capital-city side today.

SC lost their final home game of the season 4-1 to 1. FC Union Berlin on Saturday afternoon. The visitors went ahead early on thanks to a Grischa Prömel goal (11’) and quickly added two more through Christopher Trimmel (30’) and Sheraldo Becker (41’). Lucas Höler pulled one back in the second half (59’), however András Schäfer (90’) rounded off the win for Union late on.
