Despite leading through a Vincenzo Grifo penalty, SC Freiburg lost 2-1 away to FC Augsburg on matchday 23 of the 2023/24 Bundesliga season. 

Following the draw in Nyon on Friday, SC Freiburg will play against West Ham United in their UEFA Europa League last 16 tie.

SC Freiburg showed their comeback qualities yet again to seal their place in the Europa League round of 16. They turned a two-goal deficit around to win 3-2 (AET) against RC Lens, thanks to a Roland Sallai brace and a Michael Gregoritsch extra-time winner.

SC will host RC Lens in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League play-off round tie on Thursday night (18:45 CET).

SC Freiburg fought back on three occasions to snatch a 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt, with Ritsu Doan, Vincenzo Grifo and Michael Gregoritsch on the scoresheet for the hosts.
