SC sign Keisuke Goto
Keisuke Goto has joined SC Freiburg from Belgian top-flight side RSC Anderlecht.
Keisuke Goto initially joined RSC Anderlecht on loan from his youth club Júbilo Iwata in January 2024. After signing the now 21-year-old on a permanent basis in summer 2024, the Belgian club primarily used the 1.91m striker for their reserve side, RSCA Futures, in the Belgian second tier, where he scored 13 goals in 31 appearances. The Japan World Cup squad member spent last season on loan at Sint-Truiden, scoring ten goals and setting up five more in 28 Jupiler Pro League matches.
“We’re delighted to have brought in Keisuke, an exciting player with a number of promising attributes. His fearless style of play will bring something to our team,” commented board member Jochen Saier. “He likes to run in behind, has a good feel for space and knows how to operate in the penalty area. He will certainly need some time to settle in and continue his development – and he will get that time. We’re excited to have him on board!”
Keisuke Goto added: “SC Freiburg showed a lot of interest in me a few months ago. From the very beginning, I felt that the club really wanted me, and that was one of the main reasons why I decided to join Freiburg. I’ve also watched some of the team’s Europa League matches. For me, SC Freiburg are a big club, and I’m really looking forward to the season ahead.”
The details of the contract will remain undisclosed.
