Robert Wagner spent the first half of the season on loan at fellow 2. Bundesliga club Holstein Kiel, making 16 appearances for the club. During the previous two campaigns, he played 14 competitive matches for Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli and 32 competitive games for second-tier outfit SpVgg Greuther Fürth.

At Dynamo Dresden, the 22-year-old will reunite with former SC coach Thomas Stamm. Wagner was part of the U23 side who won promotion to the 3. Liga under Stamm in 2021. The Lahr-born midfielder made 48 appearances in the third division for SCF’s U23s. Wagner made his league debut for the senior team in 2022 and has since featured four times in the Bundesliga and once in the UEFA Europa League.
