Defender Jordy Makengo has agreed to extend his contract with SC Freiburg.
Jordy Makengo, who came through AJ Auxerre’s academy, has been at SC Freiburg since the 2021/22 season. He played for the club’s U23 side in the 3. Liga during his first two years at the club, before breaking into the first team during the 2023/24 season, making his Bundesliga debut against Borussia Mönchengladbach. The 23-year-old has now played 44 competitive games for SC’s first team.
“Jordy has developed as we hoped he would when we last extended his contract. With his tenacity, hard work and patience, Jordy has taken another big step in the right direction and has become a key player for us,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “Jordy’s journey has been a great story, particularly for younger players, and he’s nowhere near the end of his journey yet.”
Jordy Makengo added: “I’ve been here in Freiburg in four years. During that time, I’ve made it to the first team and have also made so much progress, which is why I wanted to stay. Freiburg gives me a really good feeling and I’m proud too, as are my parents.”
The details of the contract will remain undisclosed.
