SC away to Stuttgart in cup semi-finals
SC Freiburg will face VfB Stuttgart away from home in the semi-finals of the DFB-Pokal. The draw for the final four was made on Sunday evening.
Almost at the same time as the final whistle in Sunday evening’s Bundesliga home game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, the draw for the DFB-Pokal semi-finals took place. Germany’s Olympic luge gold-medal winner Max Langenhan drew an away tie at VfB Stuttgart for SC.
Freiburg beat Regionalliga side Sportfreunde Lotte 2-0 in the first round before then facing three second-division teams: after a 3-1 win away to Fortuna Düsseldorf and a 2-0 home victory against SV Darmstadt, the Breisgau side beat Hertha BSC on penalties in the quarter-finals.
VfB Stuttgart first overcame Eintracht Braunschweig, before the Swabians saw off 1. FSV Mainz 05, VfL Bochum and Holstein Kiel on their way to the final four.
The DFB-Pokal semi-finals will be played on 21st and 22nd April. The exact scheduling of the two matches has yet to be confirmed.
