The German Football Leagues (DFL) have confirmed the fixture schedule for the first five matchdays of the new Bundesliga season. SC Freiburg will kick off their campaign at home to FC Augsburg on Saturday afternoon, before heading to newly promoted 1. FC Köln for a Sunday evening match.
Before that, Freiburg will get their competitive season underway in the DFB-Pokal on Friday, 16th August, away at Sportfreunde Lotte. Their Bundesliga opener follows on Saturday, 23rd August, with a 15:30 CEST kick-off against Augsburg at the Europa-Park Stadion. Matchday 2 takes Freiburg to Cologne, where they’ll face the newly promoted side on Sunday, 31st August at 19:30 CEST. That game is followed by the first international break of the season on the first weekend of September.
Matchdays 3 and 4 – at home to VfB Stuttgart and away at SV Werder Bremen – are both scheduled for Saturday afternoons at 15:30 CEST. On Matchday 5, Freiburg welcome TSG Hoffenheim on Sunday, 28th September, again at 15:30 CEST.
