SC have completed the signing of 23-year-old attacker Yuito Suzuki from Brøndby IF.
Yuito Suzuki signed his first professional contract aged 18 for Shimizu S-Pulse, making his debut in the J1 League in July 2020. After three seasons and 93 appearances, he moved on loan to RC Strasbourg in January 2023, where he scored one goal in three games. Brøndby IF signed the attacker in summer 2023 and he has played 69 times for them in all competitions, scoring 23 goals and recording 15 assists. Suzuki earned his first call-up to Japan’s national team in June 2024 and made his debut against Myanmar.
“Yuito can both score goals and set up his teammates. His pace, flexibility and technique will improve our overall attacking play as a team,” said board member Jochen Saier. “We’ve been interested in Yuito for a really long time and are now pleased to have completed the transfer. Just like lots of players from other leagues, he will definitely need time to adjust to the increased intensity and the special nature of Bundesliga games. It shouldn’t take him too long though.”
Yuito Suzuki commented: “SC Freiburg have a fantastic reputation and are a club rich in tradition. During my conversations with the club, I was given a clear plan for my future, one that totally matches my aspirations. This clarity played a big role in my decision to come here. This team has had some impressive results in recent years, including this season, and I will give my best to help contribute to more success. I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in the Bundesliga and I’m proud to be a Freiburg player.”
The details of his contract will remain undisclosed. Yuito Suzuki will wear the number 14 at SC.
