As part of the club’s official season-opening day on 9th August at the Europa-Park Stadion, SC will host Basque side CA Osasuna.
SC Freiburg and their fans have earned themselves another season full of interesting fixtures on the continent. At least eight Europa League games are guaranteed later this year – and to get a taste for these encounters, CA Osasuna from LaLiga are in town in pre-season.
The team from Pamplona, capital city of the province of Navarra, narrowly missed out on European qualification last weekend. Victory could have seen them finish in the European places, however they only drew away against Alaves, meaning they ended the campaign in ninth place, level on points and with the same goal difference as Rayo Vallecano in eighth. Ante Budimir, who was previously on the books at FC St. Pauli, was their top goalscorer in 2024/25 with 21 goals – only Kylian Mbappé and Robert Lewandowski were more prolific in LaLiga. Other players with Bundesliga experience are Bayern loanee Bryan Zaragoza and former Frankfurt man Lucas Torro.
The friendly at the Europa-Park Stadion on 9th August will kick off at 15:30 CEST and the two sides will contest three periods of 45 minutes. The season-opening event is presented by Nike and 11TeamSports.
