SC are set to face VfL Sportfreunde Lotte in the first round of the 2025/26 DFB-Pokal following Sunday evening’s draw at the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
Athlete Owen Ansah performed the draw for the 32 first-round matches in Dortmund. In 2024, the Hamburg native became the first German to run 100 metres in under 10 seconds (9.99 seconds).
Ansah drew VfL Sportfreunde Lotte as SC’s first-round opponent. Lotte finished the past fourth-tier season in third place. In the final of the Westphalia Cup, Lotte lost 2-0 to DFB-Pokal finalists Arminia Bielefeld, but as Bielefeld had already been promoted to the second division and had therefore already qualified for the DFB-Pokal, Lotte also progressed to the first round of Germany’s most prestigious cup competition.
First-round ties will be played between 15th and 18th August 2025. The exact dates of the matches are yet to be announced.
