SC and Johan Manzambi have reached an agreement for an early extension of the player’s contract
Johan Manzambi joined the Freiburg academy from Servette FC in January 2023. The 19-year-old midfielder was promoted to the first team squad ahead of the 2024/25 season and made his professional debut in SC’s 3-0 win over Heidenheim in September 2024. In April 2025, Manzambi scored his first Bundesliga goal in the 90th minute of a 2-1 win away to Borussia Mönchengladbach. In total, he made 11 appearances across the past top-flight season, scoring two goals and providing two assists. On June 7th of this year, Manzambi made his senior debut for the Switzerland national team, netting his first international goal just four days later in a friendly against the USA.
“Johan has consistently continued to develop, something that makes him really stand out,” told board member Jochen Saier. “He has been able to hone his skills even further and his style of play has made him an essential part of the success of the team. Everyone is sure that here is the best place for him to be.”
Johan Manzambi: “I’m very grateful for and happy about my first year with the SC first team. The stadium and the fans are great, and we have a properly good team. I really wanted to stay here and hope that we can deliver another strong performance next season.”
As per usual, contract details shall remain undisclosed.
