Siquet joined SC Freiburg in January of 2022 from Standard Liège and has since made a total of four appearances for the club: three in the Bundesliga and one in the Europa League against Qarabag. The 20-year-old departed the Sotogrande training camp on Thursday evening, and signed a loan deal to join the Belgian top flight’s tenth-placed side on Saturday.

 “Hugo needs regular game time at this point in his career, which we couldn’t guarantee him for the time being, given how intense the fight for places in the team is,” explained sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “As a result, the loan move, back to his homeland in Belgium, makes sense and comes at the right time.”

Both clubs have agreed not to disclose further contract details.
