SC Freiburg have signed Michael Gregoritsch. The striker completed his medical in Freiburg on Friday morning and arrived at the training camp in Schruns at midday.

The Austrian moved to German football from Kapfenberger SV in 2012 and went on to play for TSG Hoffenheim, FC St. Pauli, VfL Bochum, Hamburger SV, FC Augsburg and FC Schalke 04. In a total of 188 Bundesliga games, the 28-year-old has scored 40 goals and provided 14 assists, including nine goals for FC Augsburg last season – seven of which came in the second half of the campaign. Gregoritsch is a current Austria international and has scored seven goals in 39 games for his country.

“Michael has developed even more in the past year. In addition to the skills that he already had, such as his enjoyment on the ball and good finishing, he has made even more progress in terms of his personality and his aggression,” said sporting director Klemens Hartenbach. “That makes him a very exciting addition to our team and our style of play. We are very happy that the move had been successful at the second attempt.”

Michael Gregoritsch: “The contact with Freiburg has been there for a long time and I have been following the development of the team and the club closely. The team are coming off the back of an impressive season and I'm happy to be part of this squad.”

Michael Gregoritsch will take the number 38 shirt. The parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the contract.
