Kevin Schade has been sent on loan Premier League side Brentford. The London club are currently sat ninth in the English top flight and Schade will be with the Bees until the end of the season, after which a permanent move is expected.

Schade joined SC Freiburg as a youngster from Energie Cottbus back in 2018 and was a part of U23s side that won the Regionalliga Südwest in 2021. He made his Bundesliga debut for the first team at the start of the 2021/22 season. The 21-year-old has scored six goals and picked up four assists in 36 competitive appearances for SC. Due to a recurring abdominal injury, the forward has only appeared eight times in the Bundesliga this season.

“Kevin’s journey from the Football School to the Bundesliga has been of great joy to us. He has developed really quickly in this time and has shown what enormous potential he has. We have known of interest from Premier League clubs for quite some time. Now that the financial conditions are all in place we wanted to make this step possible for him. That’s what we do at SC Freiburg,” explained chief sporting officer, Jochen Saier. He continued: “The alignment at this moment in time gives us the chance to plan ahead. We would like to thank Kevin for our time together. He is yet another example of the path that our young players can take at SC. We will take pride in seeing how he develops in the Premier League.”

Kevin himself stated: “I have lots to thank Freiburg for. I became a Bundesliga player at SC and the club has always backed me, even in the difficult moments. Memories such as gaining promotion to the 3. Bundesliga, my first Bundesliga goal in Mönchengladbach and playing in the Europa League, will always stay with me. I believe I have the chance to take the next steps in my career in England and I definitely want to take that chance.”

Further details will remain undisclosed.
