Freiburg to meet St. Pauli at home in Pokal second round

The DFB-Pokal second round draw was completed on Sunday. The Europa-Park Stadion will play host to 2. Bundesliga side St. Pauli.

16 second-round matches were drawn by DFB president Bern Neuendorf and para-swimmer Josia Topf. The draw, which took place in the German Football Museum in Dortmund, saw 15 first- and 13 second-division teams represented. In addition, SV Elversberg and Waldhof Mannheim, two third-division teams, VfB Lübeck, a Regionalliga side, and Stuttgarter Kickers, an Oberliga outfit, were in the hat.

For SC, it will be a reunion with the Kiezkickers one year after the inaugural game at the Europa-Park Stadion. The Breisgau side won the friendly in October last year 3-0, but the last competitive match against the nothern side was over six years ago - in April 2016, when Freiburg prevailed 4-3 in the 2. Bundesliga.

Timo Schulz's side had secured their place in the second round with a late goal from Jakov Medic against Regionalliga side SV Straelen earning a 4-3 win. St. Pauli are currently in tenth place in the 2. Bundesliga after seven matchdays.

The second round of the cup will be played on 18th and 19th October. The exact dates of Freiburg's fixture is yet to be determined.
