If you have ever wondered why the Freiburg team always huddle together in a circle after half time, stand on their tiptoes and then burst apart with a short sprint, strength and conditioning coach Daniel Wolf has the answer: “It’s a way of retuning for the second half – for the mind and the body.” The Rheinfelden native focuses on both aspects in his daily work as he manages the training workload for individual players, often based on running data and heart rates. Before joining the Freiburg coaching team last season, the former player worked as a strength and conditioning coach for Union Berlin, as well as for various Germany youth teams.
